About

We are Making The Difference

Established in 2015, Making The Difference (MTD) is an Indian non‑profit founded by Mr. Deepak Vishwakarma, with the determination to bring a difference in the environment and life of the needy — especially underprivileged children.

Our Vision & Mission

Our foresight of 50 years ahead is a country free of NGOs. We endeavour to build a promising future for the poor by breaking the vicious cycle of poverty and social isolation. We believe in restoring hope so every person has access to resources and opportunities.

Environmental care is part of our mission — through tree plantations, coastal cleanups and waste management awareness, we mend the walls of nature.

The WHEEL of impact

Today, MTD works through the concept of WHEEL — Women Hygiene (Project Lajja), Health & Hunger (Kill Hunger, BloodDoNation), Environment (Shoonya, Kinaara, Miyawaki forests), Education (GyanDaan open schools) and Livelihood (Crafting Lives sewing centres).

Leadership

The people steering the mission — bringing 10+ years of grassroots execution to every program MTD runs.

Founder & President

"If a project doesn't sit on the WHEEL, we don't run it. That single rule keeps us focused, measurable and accountable."

A first‑generation social entrepreneur who founded Making The Difference in 2015 to break the cycle of poverty through education, environment and livelihood.

Born and raised in a working‑class family in Mumbai, Deepak watched first‑hand how a single missed meal, a missed school year or one health emergency could derail an entire family for a generation. That lived experience became the seed of MTD.

He founded Making The Difference in 2015 with one operating principle — every initiative must roll back to the WHEEL: Women Hygiene, Health & Hunger, Environment, Education or Livelihood. No vanity projects, no scattered pilots, no work that can't be measured.

A decade on, Deepak leads a team of 1,100+ volunteers across nine cities. Under his stewardship MTD has planted 65,000+ trees, reached 32,000+ women through Project Lajja, served over 5 lakh meals via Kill Hunger and channelled ₹20 crore+ into on‑ground programs — every rupee audited, every outcome reported.

He continues to spend most of his week on the field rather than in boardrooms — a deliberate choice that keeps MTD's strategy grounded in the realities of the families it serves.
