Mr. Deepak Vishwakarma
Founder & President
"If a project doesn't sit on the WHEEL, we don't run it. That single rule keeps us focused, measurable and accountable."
A first‑generation social entrepreneur who founded Making The Difference in 2015 to break the cycle of poverty through education, environment and livelihood.
Born and raised in a working‑class family in Mumbai, Deepak watched first‑hand how a single missed meal, a missed school year or one health emergency could derail an entire family for a generation. That lived experience became the seed of MTD.
He founded Making The Difference in 2015 with one operating principle — every initiative must roll back to the WHEEL: Women Hygiene, Health & Hunger, Environment, Education or Livelihood. No vanity projects, no scattered pilots, no work that can't be measured.
A decade on, Deepak leads a team of 1,100+ volunteers across nine cities. Under his stewardship MTD has planted 65,000+ trees, reached 32,000+ women through Project Lajja, served over 5 lakh meals via Kill Hunger and channelled ₹20 crore+ into on‑ground programs — every rupee audited, every outcome reported.
He continues to spend most of his week on the field rather than in boardrooms — a deliberate choice that keeps MTD's strategy grounded in the realities of the families it serves.
